Smartmedia can be used like any ol' storage device. It doesn't have to store only pictures. In 1998 I bought a device to read my smartmedia cards in any of my computers. : MemoryStick is too late to the party. I read recently that Toshiba released the Smartmedia specs FREE to any company. and I don't believe CompactFlash is owned by any one company either.
